Each of the one-of-a-kind Images of Santa Claus is created in Lindy's home workshop. The inspiration for these wooly figures comes from pictures, old postcards, studies of articles and books on the Santa Claus Legend, and most importantly from studies and pictures of real people with interesting facial features. Lindy sees Santa Claus everywhere. All of this information is used to create that special Santa face and dress. Because Santa's image is hand-sculpted and constructed from head to base by hand, each Santa Claus is unique.
Lindy has kept her childhood belief and delight in the Santa Claus Legend. Through the Santa Claus Images, she has shared these joys with other people. She finds as much joy in watching other people's expressions as they look and touch the Images of Santa as she does in creating the images.
The process in doll-making is a difficult one to describe. There are so many skills involved in constructing a doll from wire, fabric, clay or resin. An original doll-maker needs to be a sculptor and must have a knowledge of anatomy in order to construct face, hand, feet and other features. If the doll-maker constructs bases for the dolls, a knowledge of wood and finishing techniques is necessary. A doll-maker needs to understand fabric types and to be a seamstress. A knowledge of paint and painting techniques is necessary to give a life-like appearance to the Images.
