Lindy Evans With SantaLindy Evans began her doll-making art in 1975, when she created fabric dolls and animals as gifts for her family and friends. After 17 years as a teacher and administrator in public education, she decided to pursue her career in doll-making on a full-time basis. For 17 years she has created these one-of-a-kind and limited edition images from her studio in Berea, Kentucky. The expressive faces of her designs are developed from studies of real people. Lindy sculpts her faces from polymer clay, and uses vintage fabrics and antique toys to adorn her Santas, Elves and other images. Her work ranges in size from 11" to Life-Size.

As always, her life-size Santas create and attract the most attention.  The life-size Santas are dressed in vintage clothing, allowing the true character of each Santa to be fully expressed. The 14"-27" Santas are a collector's dream.  They are  the perfect addition to the home for the holidays.

Original five-inch Snickle Elves are a new creation displayed during retail shows. These homely little elves can be found sleeping on the job in vintage glasses cases, tin boxes, or vintage children's shoes.

All of Lindy's creations have cloth bodies that can assume a variety of positions as Lindy creates them.  Each original has a descriptive card of its history and name.

Each of Lindy's images is constructed of a wire armature, which is then wrapped with cotton or polyester batting to give the body shape and form. Lindy also hand paints the faces and hands, and processes natural mohair for the Santa's beard. The figures are mounted on wooden bases with brass rods or wire. The images are dressed to enhance the personality of each character. The molds and resin castings for the OLD SOUL series are all produced by Lindy; this series is limited to 250 pieces of each character. Many of the Santas and Halloween characters of this series are developed from her collectors' suggestions.
